Why I have a concealed carry permit

Before I turned 21 I never considered carrying a gun because I was worried I might over react or act irresponsibly when mad; I had never been in a fight, but I had a temper. I still do have a temper, but I thought about who I am and the way I react to things and thought I would be responsible enough to carry a gun. I talked about applying for a permit prior to my mom being diagnosed with cancer, but it was only after she went into the hospital that I got it. I paid $40 for a basic safety class, $40 for the permit and I had a background check and was fingerprinted; all in all a very simple process. Roughly two weeks later I was legally allowed to carry a gun.

There are a lot of people who do not like gun carrying citizens, and honestly there are a lot of citizens I would not want carrying a gun, but they do keep an eye on you. You have to have a background check and be finger printed prior to the judge signing off on it so in most cases anyone that should not be carrying wont be carrying. There was comment made regarding citizens with permits stating how the ones with permits are some of the safest citizens. This makes sense, if a person will lose their ability to carry a gun they are less likely to do ANYTHING that would lead to them losing their permit. That means they are less likely to get in fights, abuse their family members, robbery, murder, rape, etc. All these things are bad when it comes to carrying a gun and as far as I am aware any violent crime will result in losing your license. Even on applications to have a firearm registered to you it asks about violent crimes (A&B, Murder, etc). So tell me, would you feel more safe standing next to someone who has been in fights, or had an A&B charge or someone with no criminal record who is carrying a gun. In some ways it is a hard question to answer, because initially you will be wondering what that person will do with the gun If you know this person has never been violent and has never committed any crimes don’t you think knowing he/she would have the ability to protect you in a situation and would be willing to do so would ease any concerns you may.

I can say this, before I was allowed to carry I always felt a sense of anxiety, like I have to worry about what goes on around me. After getting my permit I felt much better when walking or driving in an area I did not know or felt was unsafe. A co-worker once said, “Do you really think that you will have an opportunity to draw your firearm in a situation where you need it”. My answer was/is YES. The type of situation he was referring to was if someone was to point a gun at me or have a knife and his opinion was that I would/could not pull my gun. There are a couple things surrounding such a situation; A, the criminal is not going to suspect I would have a gun; B, he probably can’t shoot worth a shit anyway; C, it wouldn’t surprise me if the safety was on. I do not have a handgun anymore unfortunately, but I did carry a SIG Sauer P229 in the 357SIG. The P229 does not have a safety and I carry it in a holster that has a tension lock for the trigger guard. This means that something must be pushed to retrieve the firearm and I am pretty quick with it. So I feel in a situation such as that where I would probably be reaching for my wallet, I would have the opportunity to grab my gun instead. Here is the thing, if this person is willing to shoot you and has the ability to, there is a chance they will anyway. You just need to ask yourself whether it is better to get shot fighting or get shot being defenseless. Personally I will take the bullet and be happy with the decision because I took a stand, I fought back.

These gang members and kids that think they are “hard” are full of shit. There are some that will kill you in a heart beat and have no remorse, but a lot of them are still full of shit because they do it thinking it is cool or something. A lot of these gang members probably couldn’t hit a coke can at 25 yard and that is why they have to have their tec9s and full autos. I look at it this way, in a situation like a described above I would be up against 2 different kinds of people, well maybe 3. The first is the kind that is gonna kill me if they have the chance because it is “cool”. The second kind is going to be the guy that is desperate and just needs money, but has no real intension of shooting me or anyone else. The third is the new guy that thinks he is bad, has never shot anyone, and is very nervous. I guess there could be a fourth but I think it falls into the third type. This would be the person who has robbed a lot of people and these people have been scared to death and he has gotten away with the ability to be the one in charge. There are common elements to each one of these individuals. They are all holding a gun, they are all aware of what they are doing, they have the ability to take my life, they are initiating the conflict, they are breaking the law. It would be a sad event if someone who was just desperate was shot while trying to rob someone, but they should have realized what could happen. Out of those 4 types of people the one you have to be careful of is the confident one who knows what he is doing. He is probably a decent shot, does not have any fear, and is aware that anyone could be carrying a gun. If more people stood up to these pieces of shit that go around killing people and robbing people for no reason we would probably have less crime in this world. Think about it, if you walk into a police station and there are only 6 out of 10 officers armed, but you don’t know who is and who isn’t are you going to pull a gun on them? If it was 2 or even 1 out of the 10 those are pretty good odds so you might as well try (DO NOT TRY IT, it was only an example, and I love the po po :-).

This post was a lot longer than I planned and I said a lot and probably sounds like crap in some places. The main point was that I have a permit because I want to fight back if given the opportunity. These pieces of shit in this world that walk around acting like they are bad asses need to be stopped. I am not talking about assassins or people who really really know their shit I am talking about all the gangsters. Don’t get me wrong assassins aren’t good either, but they aren’t for the most part just seeing someone wearing a necklace and shooting them because they need to get a new set of 26’s for their car.

Before I am done I wanted to share a couple other things on this topic. I move to this area 10 years ago, it is very rural and the closest Walmart (the major place to shop) is 30 miles away. Well in the other direction is Staunton and they have started having problems with the bloods and the crypts. I was told a woman was getting gas and the attendant asked her if she was alone and when replying with a yes, she was told someone had just gotten in her car. The police arrive and after questioning they found out he was supposed to rob her and kill her as part of his initiation. What a bunch of fucking losers, plain and simple. I will catch hell for this statement I’m sure, but it needs to be made. The most dangerous cities in this country are all minority cities. It sounds racist, but if you look at the facts it makes sense. The list of most dangerous cities for 2005 helps point that out. Everyone of those major cities is known for the minority problems. It sounds sorta bad saying minorities but I am not going to single it out. The fact is whites contribute to the problems too, but I feel the whites in the gangs doing the same things are their own minority, White Trash American. This sounds a bit racist I know, but if you can look at that list and tell me honestly that the whites are actually the minority I will build you a 5 page website for free. On my trip to California I got turned around in St. Loius and stopped at a gas station. My handgun was in the car and I was very uncomfortable. At this gas station people were looking at me like I was fucking nuts or they thought I had some balls. Here is a white boy pulling up to a St. Louis gas station in a BMW. There were 2 white people, me and the man behind the 2″ thick piece of bullet proof glass, NO JOKE. There were however 10-15 other people that were not white. So tell me am I saying more about other races or are other races saying more about themselves.

**NOTE to assassins, please don’t whois me and come to my house, I am not telling people to kill you :-)
