Frameworks

Posted March 5, 2007 at 09:03pm in Programming

I have watched some video by Sean Kelly in the past regarding different development frameworks, but the only ones I have used are Ruby on Rails and Plone. I would not even label myself a beginner with either framework, but I hope to change that in the future. I did try Django this morning and I love it. According to his video, Better Web App Development, Django comes in third place for time and second place for easy. The time differences were about 4 minutes apart until you got to Turbo Gears, which was 40 minutes longer than Django. I think RoR would be nice to learn, but I believe I will start with Django.

It will take a little time to get used to what is required to build the app, but I think it will force me to get back into Python too. I want to try Turbo Gears and load RoR up again to see what I can do.

Good luck with your plunge into Django. The community is very helpful, so if you ever get stuck - ask on IRC or the user group.
