Yeah I’m a dork, just read. I had planned on trying Eventum out a long long time ago but never got around to it until tonight. I work freelance for a company local and right now they don’t have a way of managing updates so I set out to find something that allowed customers to enter information without being to intense but gave the admins a lot of power; Eventum without question. I don’t think I can say enough about how pleased I am with what I can do. With Bugzilla users are overwhelmed with the operating system and versions and so on, but maybe those can be removed I have no used Bugzilla other than the demo. Trac was also a good selection, but with 300 sites we would have to expose users to a list of domains to choose from or categories with each site. The other option is to create a trac environment for each domain, which would be an incredible pain the ass.

This is where Eventum comes in. You can create one project and have a required custom field where a user could specify the domain. You could create a project for each website, either way it gives you a good base to work with. You have the ability to display all of the fields for a user to edit such as the category, priority, etc and you have the ability to create custom fields.

Lets say you have a client create a ticket to have you change 2 images on the website. As of right now I am giving them the option to enter the summary, description, estimated development time, public or private, the domain name, and the priority. I have disallowed, the assignment, and category. In addtion to the ones I listed they are presented a field for uploading files after one file has been selected an additional form field is added and will continue to add as long as they fill the fields. This is extremely handy when someone wants you to change images because they will most likely be providing the images they are then accessible by everyone with access to the tickets.

My manager receives an email that a ticket has been added, he then assigns it to me and I receive an email. In the ticket I can add time tracking by category which is then summarized in the time tracking section. Below time tracking is internal notes, where I can make notes about the project for internal people to read and below that a phone record. When adding a phone call it gives you the date and time, the reason for the call, who is was from and who it was to, whether it was incoming or outgoing. It also asks you to enter the phone number, time spent and a description of the call. That time is then added into the time tracking.

Quite honestly I cannot think of any features off the top of my head that this is missing. Well I would like the ability to easily change the functionality of the software. What I mean is, right now it says Issue, and clients may get scared by that, it would be nice to have a selection of choices to change all the of issues to Tickets or Jobs.

MySQL has done a nice job with this software and I recommend you give it a try, all it takes is PHP and MySQL not a big deal folks.
