Consultants, whats in your wallet?…or maybe your laptop case

Posted February 16, 2007 at 03:02am in Computers

This is directed at anyone who has done computer repair, networking and so on outside of your own office environment. I am doing more work on systems and networks than programming these days, just because the demand seems to be higher and I wanted to see what other people carry with them. Right now my list includes the following:

  • Laptop
  • Laptop Case
  • Monitor Cable
  • Optical Mouse
  • Parallel Cable
  • USB Cable
  • Network Cable, incl. Crossover
  • Extra Power Cord
  • Phone Cord for Modem
  • Windows XP CD
  • Windows 2000 CD
  • Backtrack Linux
  • Windows 95 Boot Disk
  • Windows Security Tools
  • Miscellaneous Software
  • Pen and Paper
  • Flash Drive (128mb)
  • USB Hard Drive (160gb) for Large Backups
  • Tool Kit
  • Spare Screws

I know the flash drive needs to be larger and I plan on buying one soon. I am not new to the type of work, but I am new to doing so much of it outside of the house where I do not have everything I own accessible to me.

Do you have any recommendations to add to my arsenal?
