Change Log

Posted October 15, 2006 at 05:10pm in Site News

I decided it would be a good idea to add a change log to the site. This way visitors can see what I updated and when. This log does not cover blog posts for obvious reasons.

Article Management

Posted October 14, 2006 at 08:10pm in Computers, Programming, Site News

I am hoping one of you can tell me something that might help me out. I have a lot of information I would like to put online, but I do not want to put all of the articles in the blog. I looked into MediaWiki, but it just didnt work like I wanted it to. I have also looked into SMF with the WikiStyle skin which is pretty close to what I want. These are the requirements I am looking for.

- Written in PHP or Python
- Uses MySQL (No InnoDB)
- Simple Layout that can be easily changed
- Admin to create categories and input information
- Portable

I may have to write my own, but I am hoping there is something simple and powerful available. I want to just write a howto guide or input lyrics to songs I like and have a simple way to navigate between them.

Apologies

Posted September 29, 2006 at 04:09pm in General, Site News

The past couple days have been sorta weird with reaching my website. We were moving sites to another server and in the middle something had gotten screwed up and we decided to have the support department reformat the server so we can start fresh. So sometime this weekend or next week we will be moving my site along with a few more to the other server. Depending on your DNS servers it could take some time before you can view it on the new server. My ISP has a horrible update time on their dns servers, so it always takes me so long to view my sites again.

I have users!

Posted July 22, 2006 at 08:07pm in Site News

When I moved to wordpress I was hoping that I would be able to share enough information to create a user base and hopefully help someone somewhere with something they are trying to do. In other words, make a name for myself no matter how small it is. Today I noticed that I have users!!. Someone I have never met created an account on my site. For people reading this that have 100’s of users commenting to their blogs it isn’t a very big deal, but think back to when you first got everything running smooth and you had your first user. I’m sure there was some excitement there, because while it may have only taken two seconds to create that account, they have added yet another account to their list of many. I guess that means more to me because I have hundreds of accounts and I know I am selective now about creating new ones.

Gates works on removing viruses

Posted July 20, 2006 at 11:07am in Site News

Just not the ones you thought I was talking about.

$287 million was donated by the Gates foundation to develop HIV/AIDS cure.

Maybe people can be mad at him for various reasons, hell you can even be a little upset about him being filthy rich. But you can’t be mad at him for making the donations he makes, especially when most people wouldn’t be that generous. Everyone with money needs a tax write-off, but there are a lot of people who are filthy rich and don’t do enough with it.

What do you do when your domain is the name of a sex position?

Posted July 20, 2006 at 01:07am in Site News

Well if said domain is as strange as “Goat in a Tree” you HAVE to blog about it. My good friend Josh over at Goat in a Tree found out tonight that there is a sexual position named after his domain name. There is a little variance, but it is close enough when the domain is as unique as his. I will be redoing his site soon with this amazing logo he had done by an illustrator.

Here is his post

About time

Posted July 6, 2006 at 01:07am in Site News

So, I made some changes to the site. I went with Wordpress 2.0.3 because I just really didn’t want to spend the time writing all of the pieces of code I would need. When I first installed it I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I have spent the last week building a theme from the ground up, editing plugins that people wrote to meet my needs, and then being destracted by all of the other information I came across when I was looking for a fix to my problem.

Anyway as you can see there isn’t much content up right now. I will be working on transferring over my photos and adding the content I’ve been talking about adding for years now. I am very happy with my decision to use wordpress. Some of the plugins available are amazing. I will be coving some of those along with the modifications I made to many. I also have plans for video tutorials on a number of great software applications and weekly reviews of some of the thousands of programs I have used. By the way, if you would like to see the old site you can see it at v1.digital39.com.

Incase you were wondering why the page loads slow initially it is because there are 12 different logo images. If you click the X in the top right you can flip through all your choices. I will add cookie support for saving the image of your choice.

Runnin like Forest Gump

Posted September 23, 2003 at 08:09am in Site News

Everything is running very smoothly. I found some time this morning and decided to write the BLOG and touch up a few things on the web site, which included re-creating some images. Yes this was 4 hours after I said it would be a while, but things worked out for the better and I was able to find the time after all.

I will have to wait for my friend to reinstall MySQL on this server before everything will be up and running, but for now this is fine.

And yes I know the title is lame.

My constant need to rewrite code

Posted August 23, 2003 at 10:08am in Site News

I have taken down my blog for maintenance and a code overhaul, it should be up in the next week or so.
