English Only Road Signs
I viewed a referrer to my site and saw a small note about English only road signs and it struck me, the next thing is going to be road signs in Spanish. I know there are other countries that have multilingual road signs, but most of the ones I have seen are in English which has become a pretty universal language around the world, and while Spanish is used in a lot of places it is far from being the universal language. I worry that with the way this country has become trying to cater to different nationalities the next step will be road signs in other languages. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem with other nationalities, but I do have a problem with guilt this country into doing things for them. Like how a number of African Americans still play the slave card and if someone doesn’t do what they want it is because they are racist.
Anyway back to the topic of English road signs, I do not know how I really feel about it. In some ways I feel if it ever happens I’m leaving the country, because we will have given in just too much. There are a lot of people in this country that cannot speak English and if I remember correctly when you become a citizen you must learn enough English to at least get by, which would make the individuals unable to speak any English illegal aliens for the most part. If I moved to Iraq or Israel or Germany or France I would not expect people to speak English or change road signs so I can read them, it would however be nice to have a couple people speak some English while I learn the language. When you move to a country you should be expected to adapt to the culture, I have heard criticism of Americans because of the lack of respect for cultures of other countries, well what about the people that move to this country and have no respect for American culture. The countries that have burned American flags, what do you think would happen if I was on the 10 o’clock news burning the flag of Iraq or Israel or China or any other country. Everyday I seem to learn about something bad this country has done, but a lot of other things that are even worse have occurred in other countries. Do some research on the Rape of Nanking or the Holocaust or any other act of genocide. In this country people make statements of genocide when a bunch of black gang members go around shooting each other.
I think these things need to be looked at differently. You live in this country, and by you I mean anyone or anything with a heartbeat, and you get freedom of speech, the right to vote, the ability to become as rich as you want, but you still complain about this country like it is so horrible. I think you should get out of my country, because you obviously feel this country is not good enough for you. Go to another country, one that doesn’t given you as much freedom and when you come back to the U.S. looking for a job or an apartment I hope that person turns you down. There are countries that would be great to live in and some give you freedom, and even some of the countries that take some of that freedom would be great to live in, but the funny thing about it all is that the people who complain about this country publicly are the only ones that would really be effected by the lack of freedom of speech. The rest of us complain quietly in our homes without most people knowing how we truly feel.
