I like to know who links to me and why, but in a lot of cases that is difficult to find out. Even when do a “link:http://www.digital39.com” in Google I get maybe 3 links, but in Google Sitemaps I have 98 links. I know that to a lot of people that isn’t a lot and for me it isn’t a lot, but I don’t try to push my content either. I am unsure why the “link:…” syntax in Google is so far off, but I don’t mind as long as I can see it in Sitemaps. When you go into the Links section of Google Sitemaps it lists all pages that have links pointing to them along with the number of links. You can then see what exact urls that are linking to that. In addition to that you can see your crawl statistics, how many pages it could not index, how many were blocked by robots.txt and so on. In my opinion Google is better than most know, some of the services they offer are just so superior and part of that is because of the simplistic display I am not bombarded with 50 color ads flashing all over my screen. I need to start showing some screen shots of this stuff, but that will have to wait until I redo the blog in Wordpress 2.1; I have a lot of plans.

I am working on my Arabic little by little, well honestly I have done very little with it and I am disappointed in myself for not working on it more. I thought I could share with you how I set up my computer to allow me to type Arabic.

1. Go to control panel, Regional and Language Options.
2. Go to the Language tab and click the check box for “Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages”.
3. This will bring up a dialog to insert your Windows CD, but if you have a copy of the files locally that is fine.
4. In most cases you must reboot.
5. When you computer has rebooted return the the Regional settings and go to the Language tab.
6. On the Language tab click Details and then on the Add button.
7. Select Arabic and the country from the drop down and select your keyboard.
8. After you have added the keyboard, go to the Language bar tab and enable that for faster switching of languages.
9. After the language bar is enabled you want to go to the Key Settings and select the keys for switching languages.
10. You should now be able to open notepad, rightclick and select reading from right to left, hit your hotkeys to change languages and begin typing Arabic on your US keyboard.
